FC Barcelona Set to Play First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in La Liga two and a half years since relocating for construction to commence.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held a public practice inside the stadium in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from Uefa to host the next European match versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
